Brenda Goslee
Brenda Goslee has been Second Presbyterian's organist since 2003. She has a Master of Music degree in Organ Performance (1988) from the University of Tennessee School of Music in Knoxville and a previous undergraduate degree in Organ Performance from Emory and Henry College in Virginia. Her teachers include Dr. H.C. Loomis, Joseph Williams, Richard Sidey, John Brock, and James Garvey.
Brenda is also a member of the music faculty at Roane State Community College, Oak Ridge campus. She maintains a vigorous college organ and piano studio and has taught Music Appreciation, Music Theory, and Class Piano. She is a frequent organ recitalist for college, community, and church events.
At Second Presbyterian Church, Brenda plays the fine 52 stop Schantz Organ. She is also responsible for hiring vocal soloists, instrumentalists, and ensembles for worship services and concerts. Since the church organ is available for teaching, many college and community students are fortunate to study on this recently renovated (2004) instrument.
Brenda is married to Dr. David Goslee, Associate Head of English at the University of Tennessee. He is also a member of Second Presbyterian's Chancel Choir. The couple enjoys walking, world travel, concerts, plays, gardening, and visiting with friends and family. They live in an older home near the church in Sequoyah Hills.
On a personal note, Brenda loves all things green: trees, drying clothes outside, thrift stores, driving a small car, turning down the heating and air conditioning, a vegetarian diet, etc. She also loves the music of Bach (and almost all classical composers), WUOT Radio, the neighborhood cats and dogs, and nature. She considers herself the luckiest musician in Knoxville and hopes to be buried under the Second Presbyterian organ!
