This a Breakthru Program that is currently at work here at Second Presbyterian to enact a dynamic process of discovering our congregation’s future path. Are you someone who will seriously help us shape the future direction of Second Presbyterian – both on and off the hill?
If you would like to join us please see the dates below and call the church to RSVP.
In this group we will examine our past; present and future focus as a congregation that is carrying out the message of Jesus Christ. We would like you to bring you experiences at Second and express your aspirations for a plan to further God’s kingdom via our direction and ultimate action plan. Our goal in this is to identify 3-4 core action items that will be implemented over the next 5 years.
The following dates are key and each meeting will be facilitated by Dr. Terry Walling:
March 19th – 5:30-8:30 dinner provided
March 20th – 8:30-2:30 continental breakfast and lunch
April 30th – 5:30-8:30 dinner provided
May 1st – continental breakfast and lunch
The three questions of the process:
- Where have we been as a Church – Assesment 2-3 issues that could hold us back
- Where are we going as a church – Direction 2-3 initiatives that could unleash the future
- How are we going to get there – Action!
When we step forward or step out for God, God always shows up in mighty ways. We cannot wait to see what He is going to do.

THE CRISIS IN HAITI

OUR RESPONSE
The crisis in Haiti has called to all of us. Many of you have asked what we as a church are doing. Below we have listed a few opportunities that the Mission Committee has identified. Our efforts are focused on financial gifts, mobilizing supplies and hands-on support.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA)
Monies for hygiene gifts and their distribution.
Make checks payable to “Second Presbyterian Church” and on memo-line write “PDA”
For more information, go to www.pcusa.org/pda
MOBILIZING SUPPLIES: Orphanage in Haiti
Katie Landon, a new member to Second, is Director of Program Growth for an international children’s ministry called Rice Bowls (www.ricebowls.org). It is a worldwide outreach that provides care and support to children. They are involved in an orphanage in Haiti that was destroyed. All of the children survived and have been relocated. We will be working with Katie and her organization to provide tangible goods for these children and their families. Katie will speak to us on Sunday about Rice Bowls and their needs in Haiti.
HANDS-ON SUPPORT: Assessment Team and future Mission Team
We are looking for individuals to participate in a small assessment team to visit the situation in Haiti and scout out projects for future mission teams. This team will depart in the next 30-60 days. If you are interested in participating please contact Brittany Hopper (bhopper@2ndpres.org) or call 523-2189.
