The Board of Deacons of 2nd Presbyterian is seeking to better serve the congregation and friends of the New2. To do this, the Deacons have divided into 4 Teams.
2nd Helping, 2gather2gether, face2face and 2Intercede.
2nd Helping will focus on meeting the practical and spiritual needs of the congregation through working with Stephen Ministry, Congregational Care, Joyce Ryan and new initiatives coming soon!
2gather2gether will be working to provide a variety of fellowship options to the congregation.
face2face is the hospitality team to provide a welcoming face to all members and visitors.
2Intercede will facilitate a number of prayer opportunities for small groups and the congregation as a whole.
We look forward to serving with you in this new way!
email us at Deacons@2ndpres.org if you have any questions or would like to join or help with some of our projects.
2Intercede Deacon Prayer Team asks that you join us this week in the following prayers:
1) for continued relief and restoration for those affected by recent weather/flooding in Middle Tennessee.
2) for our students/teachers/principals to finish the year well, with a minimum of stress.
3) for our national leaders as they strive to govern
4) for Rev. Wilson and Dr. Barron, as they continue to lead us into the future you’d have for us at 2nd.
Opportunities with the 2nd Helping Team
As some of the hands and feet serving Jesus in 2nd Presbyterian Church, look for a new initiative, 2 Fishes, coming soon. When we serve others in our faith community and beyond, multiplication occurs. 2 Fishes and 5 loaves fed 5,000. Look for opportunities 2 help your fellow congregants and friends, especially those living in Health Care Facilities or living at home and having special needs. Can you provide transportation, visit or read to a shut in, mow a lawn, plan a birthday party? The opportunities are varied and multiple.
STAY TUNED for more from this team and 2 Fishes.
Person2Person
The 2ndHelping Team is providing opportunities for the members of the 2nd Church family to become an advocate for and special friend of a member in a Health Care Facility or living at home with special needs. To become a member of the Person2Person network, contact information will be provided. This is a face to face network, not a computer network. By keeping in touch with your friend, you can report needs to 2 Fishes; see if your friend would like to participate in Extended Communion (to be delivered by Deacons); etc. Visits, phone calls or cards are welcome. This is a person 2 person friend and advocate relationship opportunity.
