Mission Areas:

West View Elementary.  We have sign-up forms for anyone interested in mentoring, or helping with the students.  We also have teacher “Wish Lists”.  Look in the Atrium or contact Brittany Hopper for more information.

Mission efforts in, Nicaragua, and at the University of Tennessee.

S.O.S – Service on the Strip -  serving pancakes from 11pm -1am every Friday night of a home UT game!

Our Parish Nurse provides routine healthcare and  educational programs.

We also support Synod missions such as Living Waters for the World.

At present, Second Presbyterian Church partially supports four missionary families each year through the annual mission budget of the church, and other funds.

From mission trips taken by our youth and adults to Nicaragua, as well as our work here at home with feeding the homeless, building Habitat Houses, or serving Pancakes on Friday night we strive to be focused on our Missions.

Volunteer Ministry Center

Our congregation supports the local ministry of the Volunteer Ministry Center.  SPC provides food and food service for a breakfast and lunch each month at the Center. Members of Second Presbyterian Church, as individuals or in groups (such as Sunday School classes), volunteer to prepare and serve breakfast and other meals twice a month at the Volunteer Ministry Center of Knoxville.

Volunteers are always needed and welcome to help with breakfast and lunch on the third Saturday of every month. The group meets at the church at 10:30am to load up the food, which is provided by the church, and take it to the VMC to be prepared and served to the homeless.

To volunteer to help, call the church office at 523-2189.

FISH

The FISH team of volunteers meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month to receive emergency food requests, purchase and pack bags, and deliver food to hungry families in Knox County. There are many ways you can help this process. Contributions can be made to the FISH Fund through the church financial office or specific items can be purchased and brought to the church.

We also need additional persons to serve as deliverers in teams of two. If you can volunteer for an hour or two between 11:30am and 1:30pm on the 4th Tuesday of each month, please call the FISH coordinator, Lynda May.
