Health for the body, mind, and spirit.
Our Parish Nurse, or Faith Community nurse, Joyce Ryan supports the congregation of Second Presbyterian in many ways.
Blood Pressure Screening is offered once a month, and at any time Joyce is in the office.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is an important part of the Parish Nurse ministry.
Joyce has office hours on Tuesdays from 1-3PM. She is also available for appointments.
Joyce visits the homebound members of Second Presbyterian as well as those in assisted living , apartments, and nursing homes. She also visits or follows up with hospitalized members and offers information, support, concern, and prayers of healing.
Card & Calling Ministry – Joyce contacts members by phone, as well as through cards for special occasions, illness, etc.
Joyce helps to provide health oriented topics and speakers for some of our church group activities. She helps organize our Annual Medic Blood Drive and in the fall Joyce also offers a flu vaccine clinic for the congregation and the community.
The Parish Nurse is responsible for several collections for charity through our church, such as: soda can tops for donation to the Ronald McDonald House charity, free KAT bus tickets for the needy (available from Food City anytime you purchase a minimum of $10), and used cell phones donated to different charities. Just bring in any of these items when the church is open. There are collection tins in the front office for the can tops and bus tickets.
If you have a health question, or know of someone from our church family who is in the hospital or needs assistance from Joyce please call the church office at 523-2189.
If you would like to speak with Joyce, or make an appointment with her, please call the church at 523-2189.
