Longest Night
Tonight will be the longest night of the year ... or the shortest day ... however, your want to position these two. Reflecting upon this day, I am drawn to the prophetic words of the Isaiah:
The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned. (9:2)
Light pierces darkness. Homes are lit all around us with the lights of Christmas. However, Isaiah underscores the reality of "seeing light" in darkness. Many of us walk in darkness, not literal darkness, but figurative darkness to the reality, the wonderful reality, of Jesus Christ, the Savior. He is the light that shines brightly in the darkness.
As the world enters into the darkness of the dark this night, look up and seize the reality that the "great light", Jesus Christ has come.
More on Thursday. Until then ... seize the light!
