Special Teams

Ok ... the Super Bowl teams are set - Patriots vs. Giants. I know the networks are happy, and several families here at Second as well for this rematch. But, your heart has to go out to the agony of the Special Team miscues committed yesterday on the field. A sure make field goal turned into a wide miss to the right. Two bobbled punts turned into ten Giant points. These pressured packed, high stakes games came down to these little plays - so we thought - in the kicking game.

One commentator on the radio shared how his coach always stressed first winning the special teams before the offense and defense. Again, how I was reminded of priorities and practice. Every day counts. When we side-step the basics, then everything falls apart. In reading through Luke this morning, I was struck how Jesus intentionally withdrew to solitary places to be with the Father.  The crowds - the urgency of the moment - could not and did stop him from being with the Father.

What about you? I love the urgency... but, I think the Lord is longing for me to be more intentional in the now with and for Him.
