 PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

 

NOTES TO ALL PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN:

Our May meeting will be on Tues., May 11, with a regular schedule including circle meetings at 10:15 and lunch at 11:45.  Elsie Dodson will tell us about the “Least Coin” offering, and the annual Birthday offering will be taken.

Plans will be made for our June meeting when we meet in members’ homes or other places. 

Please bring peanut butter for the fish pantry.

PW Study Offerings for 2009/2010

1.) Horizon Bible Study:   Joshua: A Journey of  Faith

Where you will explore the challenging sometimes hear-wrenching, book of Joshua.  Pursuing such themes as leadership, the promise of land, the concept of “holy war,” and outsiders becoming insiders, we learn ultimately to find rest in the justice and mercy of God.  Cost of book is $7 (Horizon Magazine subscribers receive this automatically)

 

2.) H. T. Blackaby Bible Study: Encounters With God: John

Table of Contents: An Introduction to the Gospel of John, An Overview of Our Study of the Gospel of John, Jesus Is God’s Word, Jesus Is the True Light, Jesus Is the Bread Of Life from Heaven, Jesus Is the Good Shepherd, Jesus Is the Life-Giver, Jesus Is the Vine, Jesus Is the Sacrificial Lamb for the Forgiveness of Sin

This book will cost approximately $10.00

 

3.) A Study of Women In The New Testament

The study would consist of two parts:

1. A look at the everyday lives of Jewish women in Jesus’ time in first century Palestine, including their clothing, personal hygiene, courtship, and marriage customs.  And their responsibilities in the household and community, their status and rights in society, etc.

 

2. A look at the lives of some specific women in the New Testament.

Recommended Book: J Ellsworth Kalas, Strong Was Her Faith; Women of the New Testament.  It is paperback and costs about $9.00 new.
