SPC Preschool

SPC Preschool

An early childhood enrichment center that was developed so:

  • Young children could be nurtured and taught in a Christian environment.
  • Families would have a state approved, quality early childhood program for their children.
  • Each child would develop a great first impression of our Heavenly Father.
  • Each child would begin Kindergarten knowing that: God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend.

The Preschool of Second Presbyterian Church has been in operation since 1996 and has earned 3 STARS each year since 2002 and the Gold Sneaker Award since 2020.  Over half of our staff have been a part of our team for 10+ years and use the TN Early Learning Developmental Standards as a foundation of our daily lesson plans.  Our three older classrooms enjoy chapel once a week where they learn that God loves them.  Low staff child ratios enable the teachers/assistants to provide an environment in which your child will learn self-help skills and socialization skills on a daily basis.  Your child will be exposed to a variety of art, music, and movement activities that will enable your child to explore and grow on an individual basis.  In addition, your child will have the opportunity to experience learning opportunities through stories and group times as well as daily exposure to Christian beliefs. The preschool is licensed by the Department of Human Services and will thus be responsible for following licensing standards.

Our Mission

The SPC Preschool believes the first five years of life are of critical importance in laying a strong educational and spiritual foundation.  During these years, a child’s physical, emotional, and cognitive skills develop at a pace that is unequalled at any other time of life.  SPC’s early childhood enrichment program is committed to developing and enhancing each of these skills and to begin laying a strong spiritual foundation in every child’s heart.

The Preschool enjoys two outdoor playgrounds for our youngest and our oldest. On days when it is rainy or too cold we have a carpeted gym with equipment for gross motor play. We also have buggies for our infants to safely ride and explore outside of their rooms.
